Your skin is a reflection of your underlying health. Good nutrition including fresh vegetable juice such as carrots can play a role in creating better-looking skin. Carrot Juice is used for skin health to provide curative and preventative properties for healthy glowing skin. The largest organ in the body, our skin is the first defense against germs and the environment. One of the best ways to slow the aging of skin is to ensure the skin is well hydrated by consuming fresh juice and plenty of water each day.

Carrots are regarded as the 'herbal healer' of skin diseases as they promote the repair of skin tissue. Carrot juice is a valuable source of Vitamin A, which is a major vitamin for skin health. Carrots are rich in antioxidants, including phytochemicals, vitamins and minerals, which protect, nourish and moisturize the skin. Nutrition received from carrots helps to reduce photosensitivity to promote skin renewal and protect the skin from sun damage.

Dry Skin

Carrot juice acts as an anti-inflammatory and revitalizes and tones the skin. Cosmetically, carrots are used to treat dermatitis, eczema, rashes and wrinkles caused by free radicals. Carrot juice is also used to assist in the healing of cuts and abrasions. Complexion problems due mainly to toxic overload in the body and an acidic condition in the blood can be stabilized through consumption of carrot juice. Potassium in the carrots helps to neutralize the excess acid and the vitamin A assists the liver in flushing toxins from the body.

A recent study in the Netherlands found a significant link between skin condition and the level of vitamin A in the blood. Natural vitamin A in the form of Beta Carotene is abundant in fresh carrot juice thereby negating the need for vitamin A supplements.

Vitamin A deficiencies in the body include: premature wrinkling, skin impurities, acne, dry, scaly and rough skin, especially on the arms and legs. Carrot juice applied daily is great for uneven skin tones due to blemishes and pigmentation. Extract juice from carrots and pineapple using a juicer: mix pineapple juice and carrot juice together, apply it on the face and wash off after 15 minutes. Use this daily to achieve clear and even toned skin.

Drink carrot juice in small doses, as the body is unable to assimilate more than 8oz of carrot juice at a time. Large consumptions of carrot juice daily over a period of weeks may result in a yellow tinge to the skin. At best it will give a healthy glow to your tan. The skin discoloration is completely harmless and occurs primarily on the hands and feet. Either your body is unable to process carotene properly or your liver is toxic. Either way for healthy nutrition it is important not to concentrate on only one juice source.

A healthy skin is achieved internally through a nutritious diet incorporating fresh vegetable juice. Carrot juice is effective in maintaining and enhancing a soft, smooth disease free skin. An invigorating and refreshing juice, start drinking carrot juice today and tell me if you see a difference in your skin

You may be surprised to learn that oatmeal; yes that wonderful cereal we enjoy for breakfast, (or maybe not!), is one of the best natural treatments for dry skin. Plain rolled oats, can be used to make a gentle and very effective natural skin cleanser, facial scrub, and soothing facial mask. An excellent multi-purpose skin care treatment, oatmeal helps to relieve dryness, restoring natural moisture balance to aid in healing minor irritations due to the many causes and sources of skin sensitivities. Minor skin irritations can be caused by sensitivities to the ingredients in skin care products, exposure to chemicals found in household cleaning products, exfoliation with the wrong product, excessive scrubbing or rubbing during the exfoliation process, and many other factors. Cleansing the face with oatmeal helps to soothe skin irritation and reduce discomfort.

Oatmeal, when used as a skin cleanser, actually absorbs and removes surface dirt and impurities while providing very gentle exfoliation, leaving skin smooth, soft, and clean, without soap. As a facial mask, oatmeal deep cleanses pores without irritating and drying out skin. And as a facial scrub, oatmeal gently but effectively removes dead skin cells, to reveal softer, smoother looking skin. In addition, cleansing and exfoliating with oatmeal provides the bonus of a natural, healthy glow.

Dry Skin

To enjoy the beauty benefits of oatmeal skin care you will need:

- Rolled oats (not instant) - found in the supermarket cereal section

- Blender or food processor

Directions: Grind oats in blender or food processor until oats have the consistency of flour. Pour into a jar, cover tightly, and use as follows:

Oatmeal Facial Cleanser & Scrub: Pour a small amount of ground oatmeal into palm, and add a little water to make a paste. Apply to face and throat and massage onto skin. Rinse. Follow with moisturizer.

Oatmeal Facial Mask: Pour a small amount of ground oatmeal into palm, and add a little water to make a paste. (For a more moisturizing mask, use milk instead of water.) Apply to face and throat and leave on skin for about 5 minutes. Rinse. Follow with moisturizer.

Oatmeal Lemon Facial Mask: Add a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice to oatmeal and make a paste. Apply to face and throat and leave on skin for 5 minutes. Rinse. Follow with moisturizer. Weekly use of Oatmeal Lemon Facial Mask can help to bleach dark spots and freckles naturally. Lemon juice contains citric acid and vitamin C that functions as natural alpha hydroxy acids to help dissolve dead skin cells for brighter, more even toned skin.

Caution: Fresh lemon juice can cause a tingling sensation that may become uncomfortable. For sensitive skin, dilute lemon juice with an equal amount of water before mixing into oatmeal and applying to skin. If tingling becomes severe, rinse skin immediately with warm water.

Do not use Oatmeal Lemon Facial Mask after exfoliating skin.

Dry skin around eyes is somewhat of a common problem, but everyone wants to avoid it as much as possible. Luckily, if you have the right strategy you will always be able to take care of this issue. At first, you need to know the cause and after that you will be able to pick the right treatment.

There are a few reasons for the appearance of dry skin around eyes. The environment these days is highly polluted and you might get damaged skin without doing anything wrong. This is a typical scenario, but there are other ways of getting this problem.

Dry Skin

Some people are under the impression that any skincare cream is better than not using a product at all. However, if you don't know what you're buying, you might end up using a standard skincare cream for months without knowing that it contains alcohols.

Alcohols might give you a few improvements in the first days of use, but if you continue the treatment you will only get skincare problems. Dryness is not caused by the environment alone, it can be induced by using the wrong cream. Always stay away from products which contain alcohols and fragrances. They will look good, but they will only make you feel worse.

Dry skin around eyes can't be solved without the right anti-dryness cream. Ingredients like Coenzyme Q10 and Phytessence Wakame are highly recommended in this case because they will improve skin moisturization naturally. This means that you can forget about shallow results and side effects.

If your body gets the right nutrients and vitamins, it will take care of dryness directly from the source. The problem will be completely healed and if you continue the treatment you will never have to deal with dry skin around eyes ever again. In fact, you can forget about dry skin altogether.

Now that you know this, you just have to find a reliable anti-dryness product. Look for natural ingredients and the process will be much easier and the results will simply amaze you. Information is the key of success when it comes to skin care.

When people hear of the world estrogen they tend to associate such a substance with all of the negatives that can be found inside the human body. Maybe they have heard in a local newspaper or on a television show that such an element is responsible for the stress levels that they might currently be going through, and therefore they bear a grudge against such a substance.

However on the flip side of the coin one must remember that the human body is built in harmony, and that each and every element found inside of it is necessary for its well being. It is when such an element is in an increased or decreased state that problems usually arise and this is typically the case with estrogen. Today, we are going to talk about estrogen deficiency symptoms and how these can affect you as a person in your daily life.

Dry Skin

  • One must understand that having a deficiency in estrogen is as bad as having an overdose of it. Here are some of the estrogen deficiency symptoms that one might be going through if he or she is suffering from such a condition.

  • First of all, one has an increased risk of having bone loss. This is due to the fact that osteoporosis exists. Here one can experience loss in their bone structure and we all know what such a loss can lead to. There are also symptoms such as the following which are as non pleasurable as the above mentioned.

  • These are dry skin, poor memory, and other symptoms that typically occur during a menopause in humans. This is something that one hopes that nobody should have to go through let alone themselves, and therefore it is important to know when you might possibly be doing through such symptoms because if not you might be facing more severe conditions in the near future.

There are many cleansers available online and offline, many are expensive and promise an end to your acne. But do they really work, or are they REALLY just a rip off? I used to have acne for many years and tried lots of different treatments. This included many cleansers...

When I first got acne my doctor prescribed benzoyl peroxide. This dried my skin out and did little to clear my pimples. Next I tried about half a dozen over-the-counter cleansers, most of which contained salicylic acid (for example Clearasil.) Unfortunately my acne was quite severe and didn't respond to these fairly cheap cleansers.

Dry Skin

So I looked online for some more specialist acne cleansers, and found plenty! But these were often very expensive and apparently took a few months to work. I actually tried some of these, like proactive and murad, but without success...

My advice is to avoid expensive cleansers and go for the root cause of acne - food. Some food causes acne and needs to be avoided for clear skin. For example, when I cut out vegetable oil (found in some junk food and sauces), my acne cleared up DRAMATICALLY in just a few days. I recommend you do the same.

There are other foods to avoid, and some foods you should incorporate into your diet as well. All of this is very simple and is free compared to buying expensive cleansers and other topical applications that probably won't work anyway. The appearance of damaged thread veins on the surface of the skin is a very common problem, usually occurring on the face and legs. The unsightly condition can be embarrassing, making women self conscious about exposing their legs, and feeling that they must wear trousers or long skirts, even on warm sunny days. Both men and women can be affected, especially those who work outdoors and are subject to extremes of temperature, such as working outside in the cold, and then coming indoors to a warm room.

It is thought that broken capillaries are caused by exposure to the sun, wind and cold weather. Damaged veins on the legs may appear during pregnancy or after standing for long periods. If left untreated, they may increase in size, and clusters of unsightly red or purple coloured blood vessels can appear on the surface of the skin. There are several solutions to this condition.

Dry Skin

Many sufferers opt for laser treatments which transmit heat into the skin to seal the damaged vein, which will eventually be absorbed into the body. The treatment itself can be painful, and may leave redness and swelling immediately afterwards. After allowing several weeks for full effects of the initial treatment, further sessions will be needed before the spider veins disappear.

Another non-surgical remedy is Sclerotherapy. This involves the injection of a chemical solution into the affected vein. Most patients require 3 or 4 treatments over a period of several weeks, with some requiring up to 6 treatments. Hyper-pigmentation of the surrounding skin is a possible side effect of sclerotherapy, leaving patches of darker skin. Whilst this is an effective therapy, there is a risk that you could just be swapping one problem for another.

The thought of painful injections and lasers may deter those seeking a solution, especially when some individuals report that their thread veins reappeared again some time later. There is also the cost of treatments to consider, and the inconvenience of taking time off work and making several visits to a clinic or hospital.

So now for the good news ... a gentle non-invasive treatment cream is available without prescription which you can use discreetly at home. Simply apply morning and night to the affected areas and watch broken veins fade away. Your skin repairs itself at night whilst you are resting, so the most effective time to apply a skin care product is at bed-time. When applied regularly, you can expect to see good results over 30 days. The product is safe to use on both the face and legs, and is a cost effective solution which is more appealing than surgery or painful and expensive lasers or injections. Even when travelling, you can easily continue your treatment regime.

You can change the condition of your skin rash by changing the foods that you eat. The reason why you suffer with dry skin rash is because of toxemia and deficiency.

Toxemia is where your body is overwhelmed with toxins. Toxins are formed when you eat foods that are impure, unnatural, processed or chemicalized. When you eat the right foods on a regular basis your body will eliminate the stored poisons which will enable it to absorb life changing nutrients from the food you eat. This in turn will strengthen your immune system.

Dry Skin

Deficiency as you may or may not know is where your body is undernourished because it is not receiving the proper types and quantity of the foods that it needs. The digestive tract is overloaded and therefore allergies and disorders results. By eating the correct foods your body will become better nourished and in a better position to self heal.

Here are 4 easy steps to transform Skin Rash:

Tip #1

Eliminate all chemicals, alcohol and tobacco from your diet. If you can do this with immediate effect then all the better for your health. If not, you should decrease the amounts you consume over a period of time. So if you smoke 20 cigarettes per day you should try cutting down to say 15 cigarettes per day in week one and then 10 cigarettes per day in week two.

Continue until you have totally eliminated it from your lifestyle.

Tip #2

Eliminate all processed foods. This includes white flour, junk foods and all cooked foods. If you find it difficult to give up all cooked food then reduce the amount you consume to about 10% of all foods that you eat.

Tip #3

Cut out all red meats from your diet. Replace red meats with fish, chicken and turkey. If you eat meat on a daily basis, you could perhaps reduce your consumption to every other day initially.

Tip #4

Increase the amount of live foods that you eat where possible. For instance instead of white sugar substitute with raw honey, raisins and dates. Instead of white flour substitute with whole grain.

It's that time of year again. Everywhere on your body you start to get dry and itchy skin. Sometimes you may even find that you have flaky skin, cracked heels, or severely dry hands. You may have tried several skin lotions, but may not have found what works the best for you.

I have lived in the northern states my whole life and it seems that as soon as October rolls around, the skin on my face starts to dry up, soon followed by the skin on my body. Of course the older I get, the worse the dry skin is becoming. I have used several lotions and creams and have found a few that are worth their weight in gold.

Dry Skin

First let's discuss dry flaky skin. When the skin's moisture level drops, your skin becomes dehydrated and starts to itch. All that scratching to relieve the itch causes the flaking of your skin. The best thing you can do for the flaking is to exfoliate your skin at least 3 times per week with a scrub in the shower. If you can use an emollient based scrub this is the best as it will help lock in moisture for your skin. Immediately after towling off your skin, you need to apply dry skin lotion. If you have very itchy skin, Aveeno dry skin lotion is the best that I have found to help alleviate itchy skin and help combat dry flaky skin both at the same time.

Nothing is more frustrating than dry cracked heels. This problem, as the others, stems from dehydration of the skin. Part of the problem is due to the feet sweating (which everyone's feet do) and then drying several times each day. This causes the skin to swell and dry out causing cracks in the skin. Some people have severe cracked skin and for this problem, a trip to the podiatrist may be warranted for heavy duty treatment. To help prevent cracked heels, make sure to use a good exfoliant on your heels at least 3 times a week. One of the best dry skin cream on the market for problem heels (or to prevent them) is Burt's Bees Foot Creme. It has a heavenly coconut scent and works like a charm! Your dry heels will be perfect in no time.

As a nurse, I know what it's like to have severe dry hands, even cracked hands. All the handwashing nurses do in the hospital strips the skin of its natural oils. A big culprit of dry hands is not completely drying your hands, this will give you chapped, dry hands quickly. The very best dry skin lotion, well it's really not a lotion-it's a shielding lotion, that is dermatologist recommended is Gloves in a Bottle. I have not found anything that works better! All the nurses I know use this product religiously.

These tips will help you beat dry, flaky skin, cracked heels, and severe dry hands during the winter months. Visit my blog and let me know how these tips and products work for you. I love to hear others' experiences.
